why roblox
idk. i grew up on roblox, and then got exposed to the 3d animation side where youtubers would use their avatars in videos. i remember following a roblox tutorial in like 2018 on how to make that typical roblox profile picture where its just their head and basic colors. this was also how i started using blender, a free and open source 3d modelling and animation tool. also older versions of blender have game engine capabilities on it somehow. but following some tutorials, i was able to successfuly rig and texture my first model. from there, i just made random animations or gfx designs based on what i was inspired by at the time. hence the spiderverse animation as the trailer was recently released and EVERYWHERE.
experience in 3d animation
i also had opportunities to work on animation in a 3d space through these roblox projects, which has been really fun. my first video was a parody of the “MARIO IS FUCKING BALLING” video with ace attorney characters. i replaced the characters with myself and my friends, and then rigged them to do very simple animations. i think at that point i was still struggling with animation so most of the animations were only a few frames. but it still gave me valuable experience with how to set the correct lighting, animation frames and 3d movement, etc. after throwing everything into after effects, i was able to make a finished video of the animation. (link it here) would love to remake it someday where i use my current skills to make something even more polished. but also when i posted it to twitter the CREATOR of the mario is fucking balling video liked my tweet so i think i did everything i needed to. cannot perfect perfection, ya know.
